Oneka Technologies is a growing Sherbrooke-based company, with operations in Nova Scotia, Florida and Chile, dedicated to making the oceans a sustainable, accessible and affordable source of fresh water.

Your role as a Structural Steel Engineer
As part of a growing design team, the Structural Steel Engineer will be responsible for the structural design of our buoys. With your extensive knowledge of metal structure design, structural testing a
nd assembly, welding and drafting, you’ll bring your expertise to our innovation team, as well as having an advisory role in the design of many of the structural elements found in our new product, in order to pursue the continuous improvement of our buoys.
More specifically, here are your key responsibilities as a Structural Steel Engineer:
- Design product structural elements for commercialization;
- Draw parts for manufacturing;
- Act as an expert and advisor in the design of metal structures;
- Determine dimensional and geometric tolerancing of assembly parts;
- Get involved in the assembly and manufacture of new parts and systems (Hands-on).
You’re our next Structural Steel Engineer if you have :
- A desire to make a lasting impact on the future of the planet;
- A bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering;
- At least five years’ experience in structural steel design;
- Extensive experience in CAD (3D modeling and associated technical drawings), more specifically in the design of complex structures in dynamic environments (ocean or other);
- Knowledge of seismic evaluation;
- Rigor and experience in managing revisions;
- Excellent conceptual skills;
- A good dose of commitment, empathy and creativity.
It’s a little extra if you also have these assets in your pocket:
- Knowledge of CSA S16 standards;
- Fluency in English (we operate in a bilingual environment);
- Knowledge of the marine environment;
- Workshop experience.
