Who We Are

Oneka Technologies, a growing company from Sherbrooke, Canada, with operation sites in Florida and Chile, has the mission to make the oceans a sustainable, accessible and affordable source of fresh water. To achieve this, the Oneka team has developed a technology that produces potable water from desalination buoys powered exclusively by wave energy. This technology will enable coastal communities and industries to obtain fresh water produced in an environmentally friendly and economical manner.

Job Description

At Oneka, our buyer is in charge of purchasing for the production and innovation teams. Accompanied by the Purchasing Manager, and thanks to his/her great curiosity and ease in building relationships, he/she is responsible for finding new suppliers, negotiating and establishing the best purchasing and collaboration conditions with our various suppliers.


More specifically, here are your key responsibilities as a buyer:

  • Establish credit and delivery terms, issue purchase orders and make purchases;
  • Negotiate the purchase of materials and tools of all kinds (terms, conditions, delivery times, etc.);
  • Facilitate transportation and reduce costs and delays, including the production of required documentation;
  • Establish lasting business relationships with selected parts and logistics suppliers;
  • Continue to improve our ERP system;
  • Receive parts and materials for buoy manufacturing as needed to fill vacancies in this position;
  • All other tasks aimed at optimizing and ensuring the success of our manufacturing activities!

Requirements & Desired Profile

  • The desire to have a real impact on the future of the planet;
  • Studies in logistics, operations, purchasing, administration, or any other field relevant to this role;
  • Significant manufacturing or engineering experience in logistics or purchasing;
  • Natural curiosity and the ability to ask questions in a fast-paced environment;
  • A strong desire to learn and gain experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment!
  • Fluency in French and English (as we operate in a bilingual environment);
  • Impressive organizational and priority management skills;
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail;
  • Other assets: experience in international logistics, customs processes, passport and driver’s license (to visit our various sites and partners).
